We were aware of a possible return to Thedas for a new installment of the Dragon Age series. Let’s call it Dragon Age 4 at this point, but nobody knows the real name of the game. Dragon Age has wandered around the titling landscape before without any commitment to convention.

According to recent leaks, Bioware is considering a single-player game. They won’t release it until 2023 at most. There are many more leaks along the way. However, Bioware has been quiet and kept all information about the project under wraps.

Until today, that is. A Bioware employee might have leaked some important news to their Linkedin profile. Faizan Shaikh, a Twitter user, saw the following information on a Bioware profile and quickly tweeted it.

It is clear that Bioware intends to develop the game exclusively for the next-generation consoles and PC. Although this shouldn’t surprise, it will be disappointing for those still using a PS4 or Xbox One.

Bioware now has an open job posting for coders. This is a sign of progress.

We find it a bit unlikely that 2023 will ever be a feasible date. If it is, then we would expect it to be at the end of this year. It is clear that there is much work to do before we can get to this point. By then, the fact that it won’t be on the latest generation consoles might not be as important as the fact that more people will have the opportunity to upgrade.

As Dragon Age 4 arrives, we will have more leaks. Save for the next-generation consoles while you wait.
