Overview

Banished is a city-building plan video game created by Shining Rock Software. Banished revolves around the player directing citizens of a distant community of outcasts to raise and keep a settlement through a controlled economy. The game concentrates on the participant’s city as a whole, together with the citizens of this town acting as a resource to be handled. The participant needs to assign citizens to several tasks like fishing or building. The citizens then execute the task without special direction from the participant. Citizens have demands that have to be fulfilled to keep them happy and healthy, like ensuring sufficient food can be obtained or having a house. Further citizens come from two sources, the arrival of children and the coming of nomads, wandering classes which want to combine the participant town. The participant’s taxpayers will age and eventually die.
