News and rumors

Testing on a unconfirmed title

Capcom’s Division 1, has reportedly sent emails to Resident Evil Ambassadors in Japan, inviting them to test an in-development game.

The email, translated from Japanese into English and published by fansite Biohaze, reads:

“To All Resident Evil Ambassadors, thank you. These days, we’re letting you know that we’re recruiting testers to get a match that’s in development!

“We’re Interested in incorporating the feedback of all Ambassadors to our development, please browse the facts below and, if you are interested in participating, click on the entry button.”

Could this imply Resident Evil 8 is in the works? Well, it’s not entirely clear since the email doesn’t make reference to any particular game. It’s actually not even certain the game is at the Resident Evil franchise. On the other hand, how the email was sent to Resident Evil Ambassadors with thanks to being fans of this series does make it look probable that new game will be from the Resident Evil universe, even if it’s not Resident Evil 8.

Capcom has many unannounced titles in development

Resident Evil fans hoping for a brand new entry in the show will probably be feeling their hopes climbing following a 2019 financial briefing from Capcom which confirmed the publisher has”numerous” unannounced titles in evolution. The games have been developed on the RE Engine used for Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5 therefore it’s highly probable Resident Evil 8 could be among them. This is especially potential as Capcom has stated it will be using the motor into the next generation consoles.

Work has started

Even though We haven’t obtained any kind of release date or name for another Resident Evil game, we really do know that the evolution process has begun.

We’ve known this since ancient in 2017 when Resident Evil 7’s executive producer Jun Takeuchi confirmed it. In a meeting for an official”making of” Resident Evil 7 documentary, Takeuchi stated that work on the next game is”already in movement.”

It will build on the work of Resident Evil 7

In precisely the same interview Takeuchi also ruminated about what the game may look like.

The first thing he confirmed was that Resident Evil 7 has been the beginning of a new direction for the series and that it had been”the beginning of a new kind of survival horror, and of a new string.”

“We are already thinking About various plans for the next game,” that he revealed,”but we also wish to determine how we can continue to evolve survival terror itself. Within the next few years technologies will continue to progress and what players need may also alter.”

It is, admittedly, hard to draw any good information from this. When Takeuchi talked in this interview it is clear that preparation was still in the very early stages and it is very possible that things like setting and plot were still yet to be nailed down.

While we’d surmise This Resident Evil 8 will probably build on the fresh new feel of Resident Evil 7, Takeuchi’s comments on wanting to evolve the genre in addition to capitalize on changing technologies and player desires suggests that the team aren’t locking themselves into a formulation just yet.

As Resident Evil 7 integrated virtual reality in an intriguing Experimentation that played the brand new first-person perspective of this game, Resident Evil 8 can do the exact same around again. We might see another view shift, the team could find new ways to incorporate virtual reality technologies, or it could even delve into fresh augmented reality technologies.

Part one of the”making of” documentary gives a good insight into the sorts of gameplay experiments that the team were looking into.

It Appears that Takeuchi is telling fans to not assume there’s a brand new Formula where the programmers won’t waver. Resident Evil will soon be taking a survival horror approach to the development of survival horror — adapt, alter and stay on your feet as you don’t understand what new technology or enthusiast request is round the corner.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (PC) at Amazon for US$13.37

One Thing we do understand, however, is that the Resident Evil group will”always want to make dread experiences where the figures overcome a challenging situation.”

Takeuchi stated he thinks this is exactly what survival horror is”all about” Before adding this”the next Resident Evil game, and the one after that, each upcoming Resident Evil, will comprise characters getting through disasters such as this.” It is this nature of”heart survival horror notion of folks beating the odds” which Tekeuchi says the show will”always retain.”

By doing this, at least, we could assume The future of this series will place a heavier focus on the survival horror components showcased in Resident Evil 7, rather than delving back into the action-heavy gameplay of releases like Resident Evil 4.

Shinji Mikami can come on board

As the Director of the original Resident Evil and the fourth installment, Shinji Mikami is hugely treasured by Resident Evil fans and inexorably tied into the sequence. He hasn’t, however, been involved with it because Resident Evil 4.

That could change though. In a meeting with PCGamesN Mikami was asked if coming back to lead Resident Evil 8 had been something he’d consider. He would, obviously, have absolute creative freedom to using the game as he’d like. His response was brief and far from finite:”I might.”

Now that work on the latest project of Mikami 2, has ended up maybe working on Resident Evil 8 is something he would consider. At least we know he’s not resolutely against it.
What We Would like to see

More enemies

We Adored the Molded at Resident Evil 7 but we’d really like to find a little more variety in Resident Evil 8. Dangerous and frightening enemies really are a given but there is something about having a vast assortment of terrifying character designs that makes turning every corner even more frightening. Who’s knows what you’ll have to face ?

A different location

This Actually plays into our request for more varied enemies. We’d really like to find a location . To keep fans of this series in their toes it’d be interesting to see something that’s a bit more open or a little more varied. New places will imply new opportunities for new enemies so we think these demands feed to one another quite nicely.

More answers

The end of Resident Evil 7 Left us with a few questions and though a number of them have been answered in the DLC which followed, not all of them have. As Resident Evil games proceed, Biohazard was very isolated in regard to its place in the broader series universe. Though we are aware of the desire for a fresh start, we’d really like to see a bit more integration and exploration there. In the very least it would be nice to see a few more knowing nods to enthusiasts.

VR support

Resident Evil 7’s foray to VR Was an excellent example of how to develop for the and frightening platform. We would not be against Resident Evil 8 delving back into this Lessons learned and technologies improved.
