Square Enix has officially canceled *Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link*, the mobile RPG that was first announced in 2022. Originally planned for a 2024 release, the game faced multiple delays and canceled beta tests before ultimately being shelved.

*Missing-Link* was designed as a GPS-based mobile game, similar to *Pokémon GO*, encouraging players to explore real-world locations as Keyblade wielders. It aimed to fill in story gaps between *Union X* and *Dark Road*, adding new lore to the *Kingdom Hearts* universe.

In a statement, Square Enix said the cancellation was due to concerns over the team’s ability to maintain a long-term live-service game. Technical challenges and ongoing development issues likely contributed to the decision.

The fan response has been mixed. While some expressed frustration over the lost potential, others supported the move, preferring cancellation over a subpar release. There’s hope that elements of the game’s story may still appear in future titles.

Square Enix confirmed that the cancellation of *Missing-Link* will not affect development on *Kingdom Hearts 4*, which continues as planned.
