Diablo 4 Season 8 Patch Notes Updated with Major Last-Minute Changes
Blizzard has released a last-minute update to the patch notes for *Diablo 4* Season 8: **Belial’s Return**, introducing major balance adjustments, bug fixes, and class changes ahead of the April 29 launch.
The new patch (Update 2.2.0) includes buffs and nerfs across all five main classes—Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorcerer. Barbarian’s Whirlwind and Upheaval got significant damage increases, while Druid saw buffs to Poison Creeper and Ravens. Sorcerer and Necromancer received quality-of-life improvements to skill behavior and passive bonuses, while Rogue’s Death Trap cooldown was slightly increased.
Vessel of Hatred content, including Rune Words like **Xan** and **Tec**, was rebalanced. Xan now increases duration instead of damage, and Tec’s damage has been reduced. The new **Spiritborn** class also got tweaks, including damage boosts to key skills and reclassification of its Aspect of Apprehension.
Blizzard also adjusted boss encounters to increase difficulty and variety. Belial’s attacks were strengthened, Lord Zir’s healing was improved, and Duriel gained new mechanics. Meanwhile, some damage values were reduced for Lair bosses like Andariel, Avarice, and Sinerat to fine-tune gameplay balance.
Bug fixes addressed multiple issues, such as Barbarian’s Ancients summoning glitch, inconsistencies with Spiritborn effects, and various visual or mechanical bugs with boss fights and item effects.
In addition, Blizzard announced a *Berserk* manga collaboration event starting **May 6**, featuring cosmetic rewards like Guts-inspired armor and the Skull Knight’s Mount Armor, available through gameplay and the in-game shop.
Smaller system updates include reduced XP penalties for low levels, cheaper Spectral Ash upgrades for seasonal powers, and more forgiving glyph upgrade chances in Pit challenges.
With Season 8, Blizzard aims to sharpen the endgame experience while giving each class more viable build options. Full patch notes are now live on Blizzard’s official site.
