Marvel Rivals Adds Smurf Report Option to Tackle Ranked Match Issues
NetEase has quietly added a new feature to *Marvel Rivals* that allows players to report smurf accounts—a long-standing issue in competitive multiplayer games.
Smurfing occurs when skilled players create new accounts to face less experienced opponents, often disrupting the ranked experience. Despite launching less than six months ago, *Marvel Rivals* has already seen a rise in smurf-related complaints, especially in ranked play.
Players can now report suspected smurf accounts by right-clicking a username, selecting “Negative Behavior,” and choosing the new “Smurfing” option. According to reports, flagged players may receive a warning, though NetEase hasn’t shared details on how these reports are handled or if further action is taken.
Community reaction has been mixed. While some welcome the new tool, others are skeptical about its effectiveness. Concerns have also been raised about the potential for misuse, with some players worried that simply playing well could lead to false reports.
Alongside this update, *Marvel Rivals* also introduced new skin color customization options and fresh cosmetics for Doctor Strange and Peni Parker. NetEase has yet to clarify future steps for addressing smurfing more thoroughly.
