Dungeons & Dragons Game Director Jeremy Crawford to Step Down After 18 Years
**Jeremy Crawford**, longtime game director for *Dungeons & Dragons*, will officially leave his role at Wizards of the Coast later this month. His departure follows closely behind that of former creative director **Chris Perkins**, who exited earlier in April.
Crawford has been a major figure in the TTRPG space, helping lead the development of **5th Edition D&D** and recently overseeing the 2024 rules refresh, including the updated *Player’s Handbook*, *Dungeon Master’s Guide*, and *Monster Manual*. His decision to step away is voluntary, marking the end of an **18-year career** at Wizards of the Coast.
Crawford first joined the company in 2007 during the 4th Edition era and eventually became a key architect of 5E’s success, known for making the game more inclusive and accessible. Prior to that, he worked with Green Ronin Publishing on titles like *Blue Rose* and *Mutants & Masterminds*.
Though Crawford and Perkins are leaving, *Dungeons & Dragons*’ current release plans remain unchanged. Wizards of the Coast has named designers **James Wyatt**, **Wes Schneider**, and **Justice Arman** as creatives who will take on bigger roles moving forward.
Despite the leadership changes, fans can still expect the **2025 release schedule** to continue as planned, with new sourcebooks and content on the horizon.
