God Hand is an action beat-’em-up video game for the PlayStation 2 that was created by Clover Studio and released by Capcom. Shinji Mikami directed it, and it was released in 2006 in Japan and North America and in 2007 in PAL regions.
On October 4, 2011, it was re-released on the PlayStation 3 as a PS2 Classics game that could be downloaded from the PlayStation Network.
In addition to providing a great deal of comic relief, Mikami wanted to make the game for die-hard gamers. When it was first released in Japan, it sold relatively modestly and was met with a generally negative reception from critics. It was the last video game produced by Clover Studio. In retrospect, the game has gotten generally positive reviews and is regarded as a cult classic.
