GTA VI appears destined to become one of the biggest and most beloved videogames ever, at least according to its first official trailer’s response.

GTA VI trailer was an instant social media hit when released and has garnered over 146 Million YouTube views at time of writing, it seems hard to comprehend just how many copies will sell at launch despite no release date for PC yet being specified.
Grand Theft Auto games have long enjoyed widespread critical acclaim among reviewers and fans, not only selling like hotcakes but also earning high scores on aggregate websites such as Metacritic. So it stands to reason that Grand Theft Auto VI will also receive high marks?

Of course, no one can ever know with absolute certainty whether Grand Theft Auto VI will reach perfection upon release. After all, Rockstar Games could release GTA VI with serious bugs at launch; although unlikely, this possibility shouldn’t be discounted either as review scores from critics and fans should provide us with an honest picture at launch.

However, any game released in an unacceptable state will likely face review bombing. While I may not support review bombing culture as much, customers sometimes use review bombing as one means of communicating their displeasure directly to developers and publishers and hoping their issues can be rectified accordingly. Unfortunately games sometimes fall prey to review bombing for seemingly irrelevant reasons that don’t reflect quality at all.

Though Grand Theft Auto VI remains years away from release, some believe that its failure is inevitable as evidenced in an insightful Reddit thread started by IAmGolfMan. “How do people think GTA VI will fail?” was his question on Reddit.
“So many people keep saying GTA V will be better, yet refuse to buy or even play GTA VI at launch day,” they stated. “How are these people not tired of the same game for nearly 10 years, even if GTA VI manages not to surpass V in any regard – everyone should want something fresh at this point! Unfortunately people tend to fear change too easily and remain blinded by nostalgia; ”

“Probably due to how GTA online operates. I doubt it will flop as Rockstar Games never fails in providing single player campaigns,” stated one Redditor. Although, “it is possible” GTA VI’s online could become just as grubby, I believe its main game will still prove successful and become immensely popular!

KingAltair2255 responded: “Everyone has different taste in games but I find it utterly incomprehensible how some people buy Rockstar Games titles almost solely for the online component – I saw it with Red Dead Redemption 2, where players would forget all about its story while simply enjoying online gameplay until their frustration with its flaws resulted in review bombing and ultimately review bombing it as being subpar.”

“Those claiming it will flop are usually those who complained about how poorly it looked in leaked images,” according to TheGamingMacV. Meanwhile, Kn1ghtV1sta noted it would fail for many simply due to unrealistic expectations being set too high by fans and critics alike.

Every player has different tastes; therefore if Grand Theft Auto VI falls victim to review bombing for whatever reason, hopefully, it will at least be for good reasons. Grand Theft Auto VI will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025.
