Gamer fatally dies due to playing for too long
Streaming is a major aspect of gaming and a lot of streamers are online to broadcast their games and experience. However, the stress of keeping a strict schedule for streaming could lead to tragic events.
A 24-year-old Chinese streamer was spotted by his roommates breathing in shallowness and unresponsive on the 10th of November after he had been streaming for several consecutive nights. Despite efforts by the medical team that arrived at the scene, Li Hao later died in a hospital.
Numerous Chinese media outlets such as ThePaperand China Daily ThePaper and China Daily have linked the tragic loss of Li to excessive streaming the length of time, with Li believed to have been streaming for 5 nights straight to fulfil the requirements of his contract.
Li is believed to be working for media giant Henan Qinyi Culture and Media Co. as a streamer. He was working hard hours to complete the time frame of 240 hours of stream in only 26 days. All for a minimum amount of 3,000 Yuan that’s roughly $420 according to the reports.
The streamer was online from 9 pm to 6 am each evening between 5 and 10 November. That was when Li’s friends spotted the body of Li. Even though it is obvious that the program is incredibly difficult, Henan Qinyi has denied any liability for Li’s demise, stating, “We provide the location and we take a commission from his tips, and it’s just a simple cooperation.”
But, according to Gamer Rant, a company spokesperson has admitted that a lot of the streamers struggled to strike a balance between work and family. Furthermore, it is willing to compensate Li’s family 5,000 Yuan ($700) from what it has described as a gesture of “humanitarianism”.
It’s not difficult to see that the work-life balance is an issue that’s well-known and many including streamers not able to attain their equilibrium. There are many risks associated when you sit for long times, or not having enough sleep your body requires. it.
We offer our sympathy to the Li family at these difficult times We hope that no further tragic events like this happen in the future.
