Futurama Renewed for Two More Seasons at Hulu
The official announcement is that this revived version of Matt Groening’s Raygunpunk animation has been re-released. Futurama is staying on Hulu at this point – the third network that it calls”home” for at most two seasons.
In a confusing way, the two extra seasons comprise an order of 20 new episodes despite the fact that Futurama’s current series on Hulu is a single season with twenty episodes, broken into two separate parts, with the second 10 episodes scheduled to premiere around 2024. The present season is according to your measurement and the region you live in, either eighth or eleventh. It’s the type of intricate, lore-driven style that you can’t find when you watch shows that haven’t been removed and re-aired at least a few times.
The streaming service has embraced the resurrected Futurama as an integral part of its “Animayhem” brand that is a playful abbreviation for the variety of animated shows offered on Hulu’s streaming platform. The range includes 46 adult-oriented animated series, with among these are big-names like American Dad, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, Futurama as well as King of the Hill. The latter is still in the process of getting the possibility of a return on it’s own plans in conjunction with Hulu but, despite the announcement made earlier in the year, there are no specifics yet been revealed.
Based on the overwhelmingly positive reception to the current season’s eighth/eleventh Futurama’s renewal in the form of Comedy Central might have simply got caught up in the trap way too soon. It’s now going in the direction that its older and yellower sibling The Simpsons – no, the show isn’t as impressive as its predecessor but it’s certainly not. We know this, but there’s no reason to expect it to be either, due to its powerful mix of name recognition and nostalgia the show can offer.
