Gamers insist on playing the same games based on stories will never be an efficient use of their time
Do you like to play story-based games? The players the internet. Reddit has been arguing about how to revisit certain games over other games and whether is it worth the amount of time spent.
In my experience, I seldom revisit narrative adventures even with the possibility of New Game+. This is usually because there are too many new games to play or in my library which I’m unable to make time for it, even though there are some games that I’d love to revisit such as the Ghost of Tsushima or Marvel’s Spider-Man.
A Reddit user has taken the platform of Reddit to discuss a scenario and consider what the issue is “I don’t understand why some people say that replaying story-based games is useless.” A user named u/Cinder-22 has mentioned how many times they’ve played Final Fantasy 7 several times, to “never find it boring”.
Naturally, responses were flooding in, with individuals admitting that they do not have time for playing games while others say they play often. “Some people must have the newest and best. Others like warmth and even nostalgia” Says u/Pa11Ma who hit the right nail on the top of the head. A lot of people who return to the same game choose to do it out of a sense of security.
A post by MissAthena69 on u/mistressathena69 says “I do not understand it sincere. This is like saying that you will never see your preferred movie a second time.” However, this comment is an argument that is somewhat rebutted by a different user who claims “Rewatching an entire film takes 3.5 hours at the most. The time to play a story-driven game takes 30 to 40 hours.”
Although many agree that the process of reliving stories isn’t wasted time, there are many who feel there’s a glut of games that you can play or believe that “the fun/excitement comes from the building of the story! And that you only get once from playing.”
With a situation when there are a myriad of fantastic releases each month, it’s difficult to keep track of them all and not forget your favorites however to those looking to have the peace of mind that comes with another 200 hours of Red Dead Redemption 2 or Witcher 3 is nice to be able to choose.
