Arthur’s final adventure on the road in Red Dead Redemption 2 hailed as one of the most moving memories
Everyone has had painful moments during their careers in video games. Yet, fans have decided Arthur’s last adventure through Red Dead Redemption 2 is among the most emotionally charged moments ever.
Red Dead Redemption 2 follows the tale of tough but kind Arthur Morgan, a gunslinger accompanying his adoptive family throughout America’s arid frontier. While the game is filled with thrilling combat, an intriguing story, and many hidden mysteries yet to be located five years later, the final scene is the most memorable thing in players’ minds.
The final scenes in Red Dead Redemption 2 the final moments of Red Dead 2are some of the most emotionally charged moments in the history of video games as we watch Arthur Morgan succumb to tuberculosis and slowly die under the sun (he could also be killed if his character is lacking in respect for his honor). As he approaches his final burial site, he embarks on taking one last journey on his horse, with the sad Unshakensoundtrack that plays over the scene.
The topic was brought up following a Reddit user posted about the experience earlier in the week. “Late to the celebration, but that “Unshaken” ride in RDR2 made me more emotional than any game ever has,” the user posted in the subreddit r/gaming. “Yeah, that’s a rough one,” was the consensus of one reader. “It’s weird because, by that point, you’ve known for hours how it has to end for Arthur, but that’s when you realize this is it, and it hits so hard.”
One user commented about when Arthur gives his horse a final goodbye. This was a ‘fun’ event but it is only activated if you’ve got the highest relationship with the animal. “When Arthur’s horse dies, he tells him, ‘Thank you for your sacrifice.’ I certainly wept,” they stated. “The Most gorgeous game ever made with characters, story motion, action, and music. I’m hoping they’ll come out with something like this soon, but be. I’d love to go back and play it as a first-timer.”
Although it’s been five years since the game first came out, Red Dead Redemption 2 is being hailed by many as the last game to surprise players, with an emotional ending like this, it’s unsurprising that the game is still being played.
