Call Of Duty: Warzone 2 gamers say that the audio of footsteps is “the worst in gaming history”
Anyone who has played a competitive online game knows that recognizing certain audio cues is often the difference between winning and losing.
Many games have audio options that can be used to enhance accessibility. Fortnite, for example, has a Visual Sound Effects feature. As Dexerto reported, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0.1 users have complained that the footstep audio is too low.
Anyone who does not think that this is the most horrible footstep sound in gaming history is delusional. It’s embarrassing that such a high-quality game would even consider a ranking mode,” Reddit member Klubhead wrote, posting a video clip of them being ambushed silently by another player after they had run down the hallway to begin their assault.
Some players agree that the game needs to be changed: “Footaudio periodically disappears completely, but you gotta blow your ears out over that DATA HEIST.” Skully said that “some parts of the game are complete jokes”. commented that “the footstep audio in WZ2 is beyond stupid, and almost non-existent the majority of the time… It’s amazing they could do any worse than WZ1 where it was also a dumpster fire. said, “Just add a visualizer for footstep at this stage.”
In the thread, many players commented on how the audio of the footsteps was more prominent during Warzone 2 beta. Hopefully, at some stage, the developers will consider bringing things down a few notches and adding some useful accessibility options. There’s little players can do for now other than fiddle with the audio settings.
