Sony assures that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be exclusive to the PS5 and there won’t be any compromises.
We’re approaching the halfway mark of the year and we have already seen some amazing video games released. But looking to the future, there are still many, many other releases on the way.
There’s a good chance the 2023 Game of the Year, which could be anything from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Octopath Traveler 2 to The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is already available. If any game was going to beat the competition it would be Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
The highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s excellent PlayStation exclusive, Marvel’s Spider-Man, has had fans on the verge of an explosion ever since it was announced in 2021, and it’s not hard to see why. The sequel was built with PlayStation exclusively in mind. This is one of the best PlayStation titles out there. Theoretically, this means better visuals, smoother performances, and the sweetest DualSense haptics. Tasty.
Jim Ryan, president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, spoke to Japanese magazine Famitsu in a recent about the game’s upcoming release. He teased that “no concessions” were made when developing it.
I’m certain Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is going to be an exciting launch. […] The second game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is exclusively developed for PS5. Developers have therefore made no compromises. We [asked] that they focus on maximizing PS5 functions and producing the best work. We’ve heard from gamers that they will be able to enjoy beautiful visuals and an amazing experience.
As of the date this article was written, we have yet to see any gameplay footage for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. A release date beyond the vague “autumn 2020” window has not been announced. We’re crossing our fingers that this will change at the PlayStation Showcase, which airs on Wednesday night (24 May) at 9 PM UK Time. The fans are hoping for a gameplay announcement, but it has not yet been confirmed. Watch this space.
