Fun RTS game even though it is the black sheep in the franchise. Although I am in the minority, I prefer AoE2. Why? I cannot get into AoE2 mainly because there is fewer villager micro. Each civ can perform many different strats due to the card system. Some cards can have huge effects, such as transforming units into other units, decreasing the cost of upgrades, or even giving away upgrades free of charge. This period allows for a varied mix of melee units and gunpowder ones.

It is too expensive to move to the next age. It’s almost as if the devs knew because there aren’t any new cards in the imperial era.
-Some cats have missing units, and I don’t understand why. Germany, for example, is missing both grenadiers and musketeers. While I enjoy their unique units, I don’t believe they are strong enough to be considered viable units on their own. And why choose this version over DE? For one, it’s more stable. You also have to unlock cards that increase replayability, IMO. Finally, and this is just me, I don’t feel comfortable supporting DE after the decision to make revisionist history more important than fixing actual problems with the game. We acknowledge the terrible events in history and learn from them. It is futile to try and cover it up.
The best RTS game I have ever played. It’s very detailed, but not too difficult. Although there is a steep learning curve, it’s not too steep, and the process is easy to follow. I tried the new version with all the fancy graphics and crap, but I returned to this one. It loads faster, and I don’t need all the bells, whistles, and crap. Age of Empires III (2007) has the best game! Although not as -friendly as AOM and AOE2, it’s still a fun game. It’s not worth $40. This game is over ten years old, and $40 is ridiculous. It will soon be on sale.
