HUMANKIND CITY CAP – HOW to INCREASE CITY CAPACITY

Humankind City Cap will indicate that you should actively monitor, especially if your goal is to make war or expansion your main route to digital immortality.

It is introduced as soon you reach the Ancient Era. It determines how many cities your civilization can have without incurring a penalty.

You’ll see Humankind’s City Cap draining your Influence per turn. It acts as a deterrent to rival players stealing your Influence per turn.

It is a fun way to keep the game exciting, but you must be careful about choosing your targets. There are many ways to increase this.

The current City Capacity can be found in the upper right corner, next to the All Cities and Outpost buttons. You can hover over it to see a breakdown of the factors that contribute to it and any potential penalties.

Our playthroughs showed that going beyond the cap by one or more cities did not affect Influence gains. However, you must ensure you have enough money to be eligible to apply. How can you increase it?

We’ve identified three avenues to help you increase your City Cap in Humankind. Research using the following technologies is the one that offers the most options.

Classical Era

    • Foreign Outposts (+1 city cap)
  • Philosophy (+1 City Cap

Medieval Era

  • Theology (+1 City Cap).

Early Modern Era

    • Mercantilism (+1 city cap)
    • Supply Lines (+1 city cap)
  • Three-Masted Ship (+1 Cities Cap)

Industrial Era

  • Urban Planning

The Leadership Civic allows you to choose the Small Council option, which will increase your City Capacity for Humankind by 1. However, this comes at the expense of pideologically ushing your civilization towards liberty

The Legacy Trait for the Achaemenid Pers culture increases your City Cap by a further 2. It’s tempting to add every outpost to your city. However, you can attach outposts to them to increase your city’s territory and avoid any Influence penalties.
