Doomfist Receives Major Class Change in Overwatch 2
Blizzard has already made significant changes to the characters of Overwatch 2 as new details continue to emerge. The developer shared information about Doomfist changes following confirmation that a closed beta was launched on March 11.
Doomfist was an Assault class member in Overwatch’s first game. To balance the hero pool, Doomfist became a Tank.
Aaron Keller, the game director, confirmed the changes during a recent broadcast. He also added other changes that included a slight decrease in damage output.

Keller compared Winston and the new Doomfist playstyle during the broadcast. He has a leap that is very similar to Winston’s. Keller shared movement tweaks and said that Doomfist could escape certain situations. He is also “more survivable” during matches.
Geoff Goodman, the lead hero designer, confirmed that Doomfist does “a lot less damage” than previously thought. Goodman says Doomfist is overpowered in the closed beta and “needs to be nerfed.”
Release Date for Overwatch 2
Although Blizzard has not yet announced a release date for Overwatch 2, a closed beta will be in April. This means that a 2022 release is possible. Overwatch 2 may surpass its predecessor’s success with more tweaking opportunities.
