Michael Keaton’s Batman Will Return For “Batgirl”
So, Batgirl! If you didn’t know, it’s a fact that this is happening. The feature film was started in March 2017. In May 2017, it was confirmed that the film would be an HBO Max original. It is expected to be released sometime in 2022. Leslie Grace stars as Barbara Gordon.
DC lovers will be happy to learn that Warner Bros. released a movie preview kit with an updated cast list. Instead of Robert Pattinson or Ben Affleck playing the role of Batman (who, yes is, set to feature in some capacity), Michael Keaton will be reprising his role from Tim Burton’s 1989 movie version Batman.
It is important to note that the preview kit clearly states that credits are not final and dates can be changed. Warner Bros. hasn’t provided any additional clarification, but it does look very promising.
This casting may have been mentioned in an interview earlier this year. When asked by VRTNWS if Batman would appear, directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah laughed and replied that the Batman in question would be “the real” Batman. If Keaton graces our screens, this statement will be very popular with some fans.
Brendan Fraser, everyone’s favorite ’90s movie crush, is also staring in the film. He plays the villain Garfield Lynns AKA Firefly. He’s a pyromaniac, as you might guess from his name. The actor was surprised by a cake on set for his 53rd Birthday. It was decorated with flames in honor of his role in the movie. D’aww.
We haven’t seen any trailers for Batgirl, so we’re all looking forward to next year. Fingers crossed!
