Konami Reports Strong Sales for Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster
Konami has confirmed that Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars is performing “extremely strong” in terms of sales. Released in March 2025 for Switch, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, the remastered collection brings the beloved PS1 JRPGs to modern audiences with enhanced visuals and improved localization.
The update came from Suikoden IP Producer Rui Naito during the Suikoden Live Broadcast on May 15, 2025. While no exact sales figures were shared, Naito said the remaster has done well both in Japan and globally, drawing a large international audience to recent events and discussions about the franchise.
The remaster’s success is likely due to a mix of nostalgia and accessibility, attracting longtime fans and newcomers alike. With Suikoden 2 widely praised as one of the best JRPG narratives of its era, the improved versions have been met with strong reviews. The remaster is also confirmed as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, which could further boost its momentum.
Konami also revealed more Suikoden content is on the way, including a stage play and updates on Suikoden: Star Leap, a new mobile entry in the series—the first since Suikoden V in 2006. While Star Leap currently has no release date, interest in the franchise is clearly on the rise.
With renewed enthusiasm around the series, Konami may be setting the stage for a full Suikoden revival.
