Mario Kart World Reveals New Binocular Feature for Free Roam Mode
Nintendo has unveiled a new feature in Mario Kart World that enhances exploration in the game’s open-world Free Roam mode. Players will now be able to use binocular stations scattered throughout the map to get a better view of their surroundings.
Shared in new footage on social media, the binoculars allow players to zoom in and rotate the camera, giving them a clear look at distant areas and helping them plan their routes. One clip showcased a desert area visible through the binoculars, hinting at new regions to explore.
This isn’t the first time Nintendo has used this feature—binoculars have previously appeared in Super Mario 3D Land, Super Mario 3D World, and Super Mario Odyssey. In Mario Kart World, they appear to support the game’s increased focus on exploration.
Fans have responded positively, noting that the binoculars give a better sense of the scale of Free Roam. Many also appreciated the remix of the Super Mario World theme that plays while exploring.
Mario Kart World launches alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5. With just a few weeks to go, fans won’t have to wait long to try the new features for themselves.
