Ghost of Yotei Devs Reveal Non-Linear Campaign and Gameplay Details

Sucker Punch’s upcoming title *Ghost of Yotei* is shaping up to be a major evolution for the studio, with co-creative directors Nate Fox and Jason Cornell sharing new gameplay insights in a recent *Famitsu* interview.

Following a long silence after the 2024 announcement trailer, the developers have confirmed an October release and revealed that the game will feature a non-linear campaign. Players will take on the role of Atsu, a warrior seeking revenge against a group known as the Yotei Six. For the first time in the franchise, players can choose the order in which they pursue each target.

The game will also introduce new close-range weapons, including the kusarigama, and feature Sucker Punch’s largest map to date.

Fox and Cornell also highlighted their efforts to accurately portray the Ainu people and culture, who are native to the game’s setting in Hokkaido. They traveled to Japan, visited museums, and consulted with cultural advisors to ensure respectful and authentic representation.

Anticipation is high for *Ghost of Yotei*, with former Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida praising the game’s polish, intuitive design, and smooth performance, even in early stages of development.
