Rare Candy Item Card Set to Shake Up Pokémon TCG Pocket Meta

Pokémon TCG Pocket fans got an exciting surprise with the announcement of the Rare Candy item card in the upcoming *Celestial Guardians* expansion. Known for its ability to skip Stage One evolutions and go straight from a Basic Pokémon to a Stage Two, Rare Candy could significantly shift the current PvP meta.

Since its launch, TCG Pocket has faced criticism over slow evolution mechanics and unbalanced deck setups. Rare Candy addresses both issues, and fans are hopeful it will finally give Stage Two Pokémon a competitive edge.

Item cards have always played a crucial role in deckbuilding, with past releases like Pokémon Communication becoming instant staples. However, DeNA and The Pokémon Company have been cautious with item card availability, making Rare Candy’s inclusion in the A3 set a big surprise.

Players on Reddit had long requested Rare Candy due to its success in the physical TCG. Its arrival could revitalize classic strategies, including budget decks like Charizard ex—great news for free-to-play users.

Currently, the metagame is dominated by Giratina ex and Darkrai ex decks, accounting for nearly 20% of PvP matches. While Rare Candy may diversify gameplay, it will launch alongside Lunala ex, a card expected to enhance Giratina-based builds by moving Psychic Energy more efficiently.

The *Celestial Guardians* expansion drops at the end of April, and all eyes are on how it will reshape the game’s competitive landscape.
