New Guitar Hero Controller Coming to the Wii in 2025

In an unexpected move, Hyperkin is releasing a new Guitar Hero controller for the Wii in 2025. This may surprise many, considering the Wii console and the Guitar Hero series are both long discontinued, with the last Guitar Hero game launching in 2015 and the Wii no longer in production since 2013.

Despite this, the new Hyper Strummer guitar controller is designed for use with Guitar Hero and Rock Band games that were available on the Wii, including Rock Band 2, 3, The Beatles, Green Day, and Lego Rock Band. The controller is compatible with the WiiMote and offers an updated design compared to previous Guitar Hero controllers released by Hyperkin.

Priced at $76.99 on Amazon, the Hyper Strummer will be available on January 8, 2025. While the release may not appeal to mainstream gamers, it is likely to attract retro gaming enthusiasts. Many older Guitar Hero and Rock Band controllers have worn out over time, and this new peripheral gives fans a chance to revisit their favorite music games.

Interest in the Guitar Hero series has seen a resurgence recently, especially after the introduction of a Rock Band-style experience in Fortnite. Additionally, challenges like beating every song in Guitar Hero without missing a note have brought players back to the games. For those gamers, the Hyper Strummer could be the perfect new controller to enhance their experience.
