Warnings related to subscription licenses outweighing purchased licences have long been issued by Sony PlayStation Plus; in effect blocking certain games you own from being downloaded through PlayStation Plus. According to user ShadpwStealer7: “PSA: Please be cautious of redeeming PlayStation Plus Extra titles if you purchased paid upgrades of existing PS4 disc versions onto PS5, as adding games through PS Plus may overwrite those purchases and cause upgrades for them instead.”
Since they purchased Death Stranding and Uncharted Lost Legacy upgrades for my old PS4 disc versions when they first came out, when those games became part of PlayStation Plus Extra I added them without second thought as having no disc to use was convenient for playing them again. But since canceling PlayStation Plus subscription they discovered they must repurchase upgrades again as their PlayStation Plus licence has overridden these versions again and to play PS5 versions again.”
“Players of Final Fantasy VII Remake may find the process of reclaiming free upgrades easier, however purchasing them becomes far more frustrating. After reaching out to Sony support about my issue and they being stumped with how best to resolve it; so here I am spreading awareness so no other players fall foul of their reckless practices like I did. Hopefully they are able to resolve it soon but this should serve as a warning until that day arrives.”
