Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 wins Game Of The Year after Sony recognizes it with this honour!

Baldur’s Gate 3 took home top honors at this year’s The Game Awards – and rightly so! As I previously wrote here, this stellar title deserves it; all five nominees of The Game of the Year 2018 (GOTY), from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 through Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Super Mario Bros Wonder Resident Evil 4 Alan Wake 2 were amazing games worthy of consideration as contenders GOTY winners. Although Keighley’s The Game Awards is just one awards showcase, Sony Blog revealed their annual PlayStation Blog award winners this week and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 won top honours as expected by taking most accolades overall!
Sony wasn’t giving themselves just any praise at their annual awards for gamers – fans cast votes on all seven awards to determine a winner, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which took home Game of the Year as well as runners-up Baldur’s Gate 3, Final Fantasy XVI and Alan Wake 2. Additionally, Insomniac Studios won studio of the Year status.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 received many other honors beyond this award; these included Best New Character for Venom, Best Story, Graphical Showcase Award and Audio Design of the Year Award as well as Soundtrack of the Year (Soundtrack of the Year Award and Soundtrack of DualSense Controller Award respectively).
Alan Wake 2 won Best Art Direction and EA Sports FC 24 was recognized with Best Sports Game honors, while Resident Evil Village VR Mode won PS VR2 Game of the Year and Baldur’s Gate 3 received Best Multiplayer Experience honors. Hogwarts Legacy received PS4 Game of the Year while Fortnite secured Best Ongoing Game, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty earned Best Expansion honors, while Sea of Stars received Independent Game of the Year distinctions.
