The massive remake of BioWare’s iconic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is in the midst of a rocky development yet IP holder Disney is aware of fan demand to remake the game.

The game was announced in 2021. Knights of the Old Republic Remake was originally developed by Aspyr, before it was transferred to a different studio. But, recent reports claim that it is no longer working on.

In an interview with Axios Disney’s chief of gaming Sean Shoptaw revealed that the company has been conscious of the massive “demand” for the KOTOR remake that is scheduled to release. But, they did not explain whether the game was being developed.

“Not a lot I can say on that point for some hopefully obvious reasons, but KOTOR is obviously an incredibly popular game,” Shoptaw stated. “One that we are incredibly proud of and think that there’s still a lot of demand for.”

Although reports suggest of there is no news that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake currently not in development the employees of Saber Interactive claim that developers are working on games for. But, the executives of publishers Embracer Group will no longer speak about the remake.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic contributed to establish the western role-playing category when it was released in 2001. In addition to the games like Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind it was an enormous step in the development of western RPGs.

The game was swiftly later followed with Obsidian’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II and in addition to a re-launched MMO named simply Star Wars: The Old Republic. In the meantime, Disney’s purchase has made the world of KOTOR not canon and relegated it to the Legends timeline. However, players still want additional installments in the series.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake made public as an exclusive PlayStation exclusive game for PS5 consoles. If the game does come out, it’s likely to be an exclusive release for PlayStation devices as well as PC.
