Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe says which of the series the film he is unable to enjoy
It’s been 12 years since the final Harry Potter movie was released and, with seven films coming prior, it’s no surprise that fans will prefer their favourites. It’s not only the fans who are awed because Daniel Radcliffe himself has watched the show back in its entirety, though he the actor admits to watching one film which he found “hard to watch”.
Radcliffe was only 12 years old when he was cast in the character as Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. He played the role again throughout the eight adaptations giving viewers the chance to see his character grow as Harry did throughout the entire series.
The cast of the film’s first installment being just children, it’s obvious that the acting wasn’t particularly impressive. As time passed, Radcliffe alongside Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger stepped into the swing of acting and went onto have success in their careers afterward.
But there’s one film that Radcliffe considers “hard to watch” – Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It was released in 2009 and the film lets Harry uncover the existence of the half-blood prince who is elusive while being hunted down in the process by Voldemort his own… in accordance with.
In an interview with Playboy earlier in the year the year 2015, Radcliffe said: “In every movie up to the sixth film you will notice an enormous leap forward in my performance. Then it stopped, or maybe it went backwards at the end of the sixth film.”
“You’re watching a mistake you made every day for 11 months – that’s the way I saw it. I had the idea that Harry was like a soldier traumatised by war, and as a result of that, he shuts down emotionally. That’s not a bad idea, but it’s not the most interesting thing to watch for two and a half hours.”
While he’s not thrilled with his role in the sixth film, Radcliffe has described his work on film being “the best place on Earth”.
“I loved it from the word go,” He added. “I loved being on set. I loved the hours. I loved the people. I loved the crazy, weird s**t I got to do every day. Acting was the focus for me, and I wasn’t going to do anything to jeopardise being an actor.”
