Journey to Bethlehem REVIEW – Biblically Entertaining
I’ve never seen that the Nativity tale as a musical romance, however, just a creative brain like Director Adam Anders could envision a production such as this. If you prefer your Bible tales to be serious and strictly biblical and not a rom-com, you’ll probably not get the most enjoyment out of this movie. If you’re a theater fan who has a hankering for the funnier part of the story, this film is to watch.
Journey towards Bethlehem starts by Mary (Fiona Palomo) being informed she’s engaged to get married. However, this does not cause her to feel joy. She longed for more in her life and had plans to become an educator and eventually to marry someone she loves. The hopes now appear absurd as she’s about to wed an unknown person. After that, she meets her future husband Joseph (Milo Manheim) on the street in a sweet little get-together and both are unaware this is the man she’s supposed to get married in just a couple of days. There’s a spark of attraction and some slight flirtation from Joseph however, the relationship isn’t going to be a success because they’re both engaged.
This incident will only cause more trouble for Mary after she realizes her fiancé is the guy she met at the market as he flings with her, despite the fact that the fact that he was in a relationship with another woman. Even though Joseph insists that the matter isn’t important because Mary will be the bride he’s suppose to wed, Mary cannot conceive how real love could blossom out of the union of two hearts that are reluctant to.
The movie is entertaining and enjoyable due to the fact that Palomo as well as Manheim are the leads in the romance. They are both magnetic actors capable of rivaling the romance Zac Efron as well as Vanessa Hudgens brought to the High School Musical movies. They also have their romantic scenes beautifully staged, and just the act of watching them both from the wooden planks will ignite the screens of our homes and smolder the most skeptical of hearts.
Palomo is simply so beautiful. It’s hard to stay away of her any moment she’s in the screenwhich is why Joseph became so in love with her right away. Manheim is an extremely captivating character and it’s a pleasure to watch him in the kind of film that lets him to show off his talents. The film has a specific scene that sees two different parts of him battle. the way he performs each role is really captivating.
Antonio Banderas as King Herod is an unorthodox choice of casting, yet it does the job. The character is incredibly evil, and he’s the type of villain who revels in his savagery. The story doesn’t have a redemption plot because Herod’s ego is so overwhelming that even his son is seen as an adversary. Banderas is so sly and sassy in his portrayal and evokes Disney villains such as Scar.
If you’ve heard of the film it’s likely that Mary becomes pregnant with Jesus and the film is used to create a hurdle for Mary and Joseph’s marriage. It is obvious that she became pregnant because she had a relationship with someone but no one is convinced by the story of her flawless conception. Will Joseph’s belief in her triumph over his rational thinking? It’s unlikely to be a surprise to viewers However, a romance film doesn’t care about the end It’s more about the story of our love protagonists. The end result is that Mary and Joseph are rewarded with all the things they’ve wanted for so long.
