Minecraft is the first game that has sold over 300 million copies
Minecraft, The legendary game that’s been in existence for over ten years, is now the first video game that has sold more than 300 million units.
It’s not difficult to be convinced. Minecraft is able to attract an audience in a way unlike any other game. From its beginnings in the midst of adolescence and its sale to Microsoft, Minecraft has been an instant hit and is a bestseller. Its popularity can be attributed to its ease and the influx of creators who have created videos for YouTube.
Three hundred million copies of the game is quite a number. According to PC Gamer, 62 million units have been sold over the past two years. It is one game that has had a multitude of different versions released across various consoles and mobile platforms. Myself, I have purchased Minecraft 5 times. My kids have three different versions.
Three hundred million is quite a shocking amount, particularly in comparison to the game that is second, Grand Theft Auto V, which is sitting on the market with 185 million copies. This information comes via Minecraft Live, a yearly occasion that honors Minecraft in many ways. Mojang was the game’s creator. Minecraft said, “As we approach the 15th anniversary, Minecraft remains one of the best-selling games of all time, with over 300 million copies sold, a milestone no one could have dreamed of when we were all placing our first blocks.”
The fantastic stats on sales come with other announcements and stats that include the results of the mob’s vote, one of which was an armadillo who lives in the savanna biome. A few other impressive stats included 15 million skeletons killed by the players, 8.8 million pickaxes made, 6.7 million diamonds discovered, and 700,000 cakes baked.
I’ve been playing Minecraft as part of my gaming rotation for nearly ten years; I am able to be confident in these numbers as well. I’m happy to have been a participant.
