In order to improve the way defenders defend, Tactical Defending tries to give equal weight to positioning, intercepting passes, and tackling. In defending, there will be a greater emphasis placed on slowing down attackers and containing and forcing them to make mistakes.
It is a manual defending system that requires more precision and timing than the previous “press” defensive system. This old, now-dubbed, “legacy” defending system whereby a player AI will home in on whoever is in possession of the football by pressing a button can be used in offline matches, online friendly games, or custom unranked ones.
