Starfield’s fans have already begun to discuss their expectations for future DLCs and expansions
For those who’ve invested thousands of hours into the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 4, the release of Starfield, which is now penciled in for September 6, can’t come soon enough.
Regardless of what you want to see from Bethesda’s venture into space at the showcase that’s set to take place on June 11, how many mods you plan to install once it arrives, or whether you think you’ll be playing as ‘The Novakiin’, the idea of being able to delve into it soon has RPG lovers of all stripes hyped up.
While the hardcore population of would-be spacers desperately awaiting the game on Reddit recently became a bit preoccupied about what Redfall’s launch issues might mean for their game of choice, one group is now back on the speculation train, outlining what they’d like to see Starfield’s post-release additions deliver.
What do you think Starfield’s eventual DLC might revolve around?
Their desires for possible expansions to the game’s interstellar expanse form the subject of a recent thread on the Starfield subreddit, which was kicked off by a post from user Titan7771, who declared: “Since there’s nothing left to talk about until the Starfield Direct in June, I thought it would be fun to speculate wildly about Starfield’s expansions and DLC and what (we) hope/expect to see. I’ll start!”
They then outlined four DLC premises that would see Starfield’s protagonist head off on a quest involving an underwater research facility near Neon, then build up their own space station and starship fleet, before finally becoming the galaxy’s most powerful trading magnate.
While a few of their fellow prospective players question how they’re supposed to make a DLC wishlist when they don’t know what’ll be included in the base version of the game, others got in on the action.
For example, user Inner-Pop1040 outlined their idea of having a DLC be based around interacting with “leviathans”, which they described as being: “massive (deep-space) life forms that consume worlds (and) live off space radiation”, an idea that sounds right up the alley of the other users in the thread wishing for Lovecraftian horror-based encounters.
On the other hand, user XAos13 proposed an “interstellar war questline” with two different factions players could choose to support, as well as a joinable contingent of people attempting to bring an end to the conflict by brokering peace.
Meanwhile, user Flow390 suggested that they’d be slightly easier to please, saying: “(Just) give me a (planet inspired by) Fallout 4’s Far Harbor as DLC and I’ll be happy.”
Regardless of whether you’re hoping any of these ideas might make it into either the launch edition of Starfield or crop up in updates to it further down the line, make sure to follow us for lots of guides to its world and mechanics.
