Mortal Kombat 2’s Johnny Cage has been found!
Karl Urban, star of The Boys could take on another major role soon. It’s been reported that Karl Urban will be appearing in Mortal Kombat II playing the fan-favorite character Johnny Cage.
The Mortal Kombat sequel (titled simply Mortal Kombat in 2021) will be once again directed by Simon McQuoid. However, the plot was written this time by Jeremy Slater – the guy behind the Disney+ Marvel show Moon Knight and The Umbrella Academy for Netflix. Even though we don’t know much about the plot of Mortal Kombat 2, it looks promising.
Things just got a lot more exciting. According to The Wrap, Karl Urban has been in “final discussions” with the studio about playing Johnny Cage. This suggests it is likely that he will be joining this film. The Mortal Kombat 2021 ended with a teaser that confirmed the Johnny Cage character would be appearing in the film. A poster of Johnny Cage was displayed, but the camera angle was cleverly designed to avoid revealing the actor’s face. Urban is a great choice, although anyone could have made it.
He has landed many big roles in the past. These include Leonard McCoy from the Star Trek reboot and Skurge for Ragnarok. Many will remember him as Billy Butcher. Amazon Prime’s fourth superhero season recently wrapped up filming. The cast and crew teased some really wild stuff fans should look forward to.
At the moment, there is no information on when Mortal Kombat II will be released in theaters. We haven’t even seen the trailer. It could take some time for any casting to be finalized if talks about it are ongoing.
