Zelda Fans can distract themselves by discussing the best artwork of the series to avoid the Tears of the Kingdom leaks
With Tears of the Kingdom, due to be released in just under a week, many Legend of Zelda enthusiasts are counting the days till they can return to the beautiful plains of Hyrule.
This is bad news for anyone who was hoping to see as little as possible of the gameplay before going in. Large swathes have been leaked recently, which makes it difficult to avoid spoilers for those who want to talk to their fellow fans of Nintendo.
You can find a few lively Reddit threads that discuss the past of the Breath Of The Wild series.
What Zelda games do you think are the most visually pleasing?
The threads are a collection of creative conversations that have been going on recently in r/zelda. They started with a question from Epic_Rain: “Which 3D Zelda main series game has the best graphics and art style?”
Some of those who responded seemed to give more weight to design philosophy than to visual fidelity. Older games such as Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword, along with more recent ones like Breath Of The Wild, received a great deal of praise.
The user Sentinel10 said, “I like Wind Waker because it’s whimsical, Twilight Princess is dark and eerie, and Skyward Sword has a painting-like style that really gives off the epic fantasy vibes.” They failed to choose a favorite of their own but did explain the reasons behind many of their friends’ top picks.
Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and other games received a number of nominations. User McDuffie described their aesthetics to be “like a dream”.
Users Joezze, BennyTATS, and others have suggested Breath of the Wild does not deserve the same reverence as its predecessors due to the improved visuals possible with 2017’s technology.
In yet another thread some gamers have narrowed down the design discussion to just the iconic shields of each game, and all the titles listed above are receiving some kind of recognition.
