Jason Rohrer developed and published One Hour One Life, a multiplayer survival video game. First, your life span is only one hour. Each minute represents a year. As a newborn baby, you join the game server. Your mother is a randomly selected player.
Your survival is dependent on her. Why would she waste her precious time and resources just to keep you alive when she can save her own life? Because she will die just like everyone else. If she wants her life to be meaningful, the next generation (aka you) is her only hope.
If you live to adulthood, you might be able to have children with other players–those babies will give meaning to your life achievements.
