Defense of the Ancients is a multiplayer online battle area (MOBA) mod that was created for Warcraft III Reign of Chaos. It also includes its expansion Warcraft III The Frozen Trinket. The southwest corner of the map is where the Sentinel and Scourge teams are located, respectively.
Towers and waves are deployed to defend each base. They guard the main routes leading to it. The “Ancient” is a building in the middle of every base that must be destroyed to win. Each player controls a hero, which is a powerful unit with unique abilities.
Each side can choose from one of 112 heroes. Each hero has different abilities and tactical advantages. It is very team-oriented. It is hard for one player to lead the team to victory. DotA is open to up to ten players, in a five-versus-5 format.
The game’s focus is on strengthening individual heroes and does not require resource management or base-building like other real-time strategy games. The player earns experience points by killing computer-controlled and neutral units. Once enough experience has been accumulated, the player can gain a level.
