“The Callisto Protocol” Will Be More Dangerous Than Dead Space
The Callisto Protocol has been generating a lot of excitement. The debut title of Striking Distance Studios is Glen Schofield, a Dead Space developer.
The Callisto Protocol places players aboard the Black Iron Prison and asks them to play the role of Jacob Lee, a prisoner who must survive an attack by hordes of mutants. Schofield promised that The Callisto Protocol would be the “single most terrifying game for PC or consoles.” Now we know it will also be gorier than Dead Space.
Schofield spoke to Eurogamer about The Callisto Protocol‘s gore. It was so intense that devs had no choice but to develop their gore technology. Schofield said, “It has some pretty horrible moments, it does.” We created gore technology and have a gore engine. This requires a lot of rendering. You break down the characters into jumps and cut them with bones sticking out.
“The rendering guys do their fantastic job, making everything look wet. Every character had to be rendered this way. He said that it’s far more advanced than Dead Space.
This sounds very alarming. It was discovered that The Callisto Protocol‘s designers had examined actual instances of violence and gore. Schofield said that the internet is full of these images, and many have raised questions about the developer’s health. These guys were looking at horrible things. It’s difficult to tell the difference now that you have access to the internet. Is it real or fake? Some of the worst stuff is photos of people who have just shaved their faces. We have tons of this data. They get really into it. They don’t mind it after a while.”
You have five months to go before I think happy thoughts.
