Popular Battle Royale Shut Down As Blizzard Buys Studio

Blizzard has officially purchased Spellbreak developer Proletariat. They’ve already made it clear that they are ending the battle royale.
Venturebeat reports that Blizzard has acquired Proletariat to transfer their 100-person staff to Blizzard’s World of Warcraft group, specifically focused on the upcoming Dragonflight expansion. Proletariat has announced that the battle royale spell break will be officially closed in 2023.
Proletariat announced the news, that “Breakers,” after four years of spell combinations and elemental magic, have decided to stop the development of Spillbreak. The servers will be closed by early 2023. We are grateful to the millions of players playing in the Hollow Lands since 2018. It has been an incredible journey.
“Our goal was to create an action-spellcasting multiplayer game that allowed players to unleash their battlemage potential with unusual movement and class customization. They expressed their gratitude to the game’s players for sharing the fantastic worlds and experiences they created.
“Spellbreak was an ambitious and challenging project. Our team pushed new design and development boundaries, and we are excited about the future.
