FPS Developer replaces blood effects with semen after fan complaints
Indie games and their creators are extremely cool. While AAA titles may still be great, indies are more experimental than AAA titles. They do things differently in terms of story, gameplay, art style, and storytelling just because they can. The modders have the same power as indies – they can take an original idea and turn it into reality.
Great power comes with great responsibility. However, just because you can accomplish something doesn’t mean you should. You probably already know what I mean by the title of this article. To the surprise of no one, the internet behaves as it does.
Kotaku reported that the retro Doom-inspired shooting game Selaco from Altered Orbit Studios had caused quite a stir in the gaming world for some time. It is because of the color of the blood. People have complained that blood doesn’t always come in red. It can be pink or purple, depending on which enemy you are fighting. It is not fair that gamers must go without any real gore.
Megacorp, an FPS developer with a Doom-like aesthetic, released a mod that ‘fixes’ this issue in response to complaints. This mod adds to the problems. This is why I made a mod. They called it “Selacoom.” You’re most welcome to use it,” they said on Twitter.
