The age from GTA Online has made the vast majority of San Andreas’ map very well charted. Even the most dedicated players have a good chance to navigate through the entire area without their eyes shut.

However, most players are limited to the area of the land mass, which is where GTA 5’s and GTA Online’s gameplay take place. This means that the ocean bed that surrounds the island is still relatively unknown to many people.

This can lead to some fascinating discoveries when players finally decide to jump in a submersible or Toreador to take the plunge into deep blue waters, as a Reddit thread recently proved.

Bizarre Curiosities Await GTA Aquatic Adventurers

Caryelah started a thread in the GTA Online Subreddit. She shared a clip of her exploring the ocean near Paleto Bay and captioned it: “There’s something at the bottom just north from the airliner crash in Paleto Bay. What could it be? It is deeper than the crush depth, so I was unable to get close enough.”

Many users quickly identified the object as the prototype technology stolen during GTA 5’s Merryweather Hack and later abandoned by Lester.

This proves that GTA Online’s map is still largely unchanged from the original game’s time.

User XMM234 shared an interesting look at the object’s crush depth. He said: “They used special buffed submarines for this mission with greater crush depth.

One user was unaware that the game had a crush depth mechanic. Caryelah responded that “500 feet” is the limit.

Several other users had humorous explanations for what the device might be. Prestigious_Shake800 said: “That’s where Rockstar keeps all of its excess XP, and money it refuses payout on jobs or heists.” It is kept below crush depth so that it will never be found.

User Wizardnil replied to the question with a more desperate plea. He suggested that the device might contain the elusive GTA 6.
