New Sonic Frontiers Footage Shows How Open-World Sonics Can Be
As part of the IGN First cover story, it looks like IGN will have extensive Sonic Frontiers coverage.
The teaser also includes the first gameplay footage Sega has ever shown of the open-world Sonic game.
Sega presented some concept footage for Sonic Frontiersback at the Game Awards in December. However, while it showed the open areas where the blue blur would be running, it did not show him actually doing it. The IGN First teaser shows Sonic exploring large landscapes, running, and fighting. Although it’s only a minute long, I am already wondering how an open environment could help a Sonic game to overcome some of the obstacles that previous games faced. It felt like the series’ high-speed nature made it difficult to create a confined environment. This has led to some frustrating levels where characters lost momentum with every wrong turn and flick of the analog stick. Perhaps giving Sonic a wide field would be a good idea for Frontiers. These open areas seem more complex than the long stretches Sonic06had. Hopefully, there are fewer loading screens between.
The trailer is below. IGN’s coverage will begin tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Pacific/12 o’clock Eastern. This year, Sonic Frontiers is due to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. How long will it take before someone modifies it so I can play as Shadow?

Frontiers is the series 2022 title. However, the franchise has been doing well on the movie side. Sonic the Hedgehog is now the most-grossing movie adaptation of a video game. This has opened the door to , which I’m really excited about based on the post-credits scene .
