Fortnite Player Wins Match Thanks to the Luckily Timed Snowboard Emote
Chloe Kim, the Olympic gold medalist, arrived at Fortnite in an in-game outfit that also included a snowboard flip emote, where she quickly leaps backwards. One lucky player, who was seen in the game’s Subreddit, was able to avoid an approaching attack thanks to the emote and won the match immediately thereafter. It’s 2018 to dab to dodge a missile — 2022 will see us doing insane snowboard tricks instead.
The clip, titled “The store says that emotes don’t have any advantage right?” and uploaded to Reddit from Ryzii_Mode, is a 20-second video that shows a one-on-one confrontation between two players. It’s worth noting that the opposing player is wearing the Master Chief outfit as well as being the last person in a match. They’re using their weapons all the time, so it’s either all or nothing. Ryzii_Mode seems to be handling their guns well, but there are a few shots that expose them.
The player suddenly does the Board Flair snowboard emotive, which is part Chloe Kim’s outfit. They can then move out of danger, reposition themselves to win the match and land the final shot. Although the preview video is not perfect, you can use the scroll to center it. Or just view it in the thread.
This is a funny sequence. Even more hilarious is the fact that you can see Master Chief pretending to be the player who was having trouble processing what just happened. The maneuver is being praised in the comments while others call it the “most disrespectful thing that I’ve ever seen” in the game. I have to admit, I agree with this.
Ryzii_Mode apparently didn’t plan for this. They claimed it was an “actually a missed click” from their side. It could have happened because of a mistake on the D-Pad in the heat of action, and pressing the “Replay Emote” button.
This isn’t the first instance of something like this happening in the past. You probably remember the moment someone dabbed just before a missile came towards them and dodged the missile. Although it’s not clear if Ryzii_Mode will be remembered for the next few decades, I am certain that Master Chief will.
