Breath of the Wild 2 release delayed to 2023
Nintendo shared today, March 29, a video by Eiji Aonuma. In it, the producer of BOTW2 announced that the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild sequel release date had been delayed to 2023.
The 90-second video was shared with Nintendo’s multiple Twitter accounts. Aonuma discusses the original 2022 launch date and asks fans to wait a bit longer for “something extra.” Aonuma also discusses the new gameplay features in BOTW2, suggesting these are the reasons behind the delay.
Breath of the Wild sequel: BOTW2 delay
Fans of Aonuma’s Zelda have eagerly awaited the 2022 release date of the BOTW sequel. However, the new open-world game is still in development. Aonuma apologizes for the delay and says that the team is “working diligently on this” in the video statement.
Although the video statement was only one minute and a quarter long, it still featured gameplay footage from the sequel. In which we can expect to explore Hyrule’s skies in a way that we have never experienced before, Aonuma mysteriously tells us that the expanded world extends beyond the sky and ground and that BOTW will have “an even greater variety of features.”
Breath of the Wild 2 joins a long list of games delayed in the past few years. It is not the first. Players have mostly accepted these delays by now. You can see the comments on Twitter that players prefer to have the Zelda series’ high-quality games rather than having Nintendo rush to release the 2022 version.
The new release date for BOTW2
Nintendo has yet to release The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild sequel, just like the 2022 release. They have not yet committed to “Spring 2023”, meaning that we will have to wait around a year before returning to Hyrule.
