VALHEIM’S 2021-2022 ROADMAP WILL BE SMALLER THAN ORIGINALLY PLANNED. MISTLANDS UPDATE ADDS A NEW BIOME

The Viking survival game Valheim has gotten to a great start on Steam. It received an Overwhelmingly positive rating just three days after it launched into Early Access. The title’s developers have created a 2021-2022 roadmap to highlight their plans.

Four updates were initially listed in the 2021-2022 Valheim’s roadmap that would improve certain aspects of Valheim’s game. There will also be some changes that will occur “if Odin wills.” While specific details would have been shared closer to release in the future, Iron Gate announced that it would not deliver all the updates for the year.

We won’t have the ability to provide four updates this year, as many of you know. We are instead planning to launch Hearth & Home Q3 2021 and temporarily take down our roadmap while we make changes. We’re sorry that it took us so long to update,”, it wrote in a steam post.

According to the developer, the new Valheim roadmap will be smaller. The developer says that minor updates to the Valheim roadmap will be put off and that work on the significant Mistlands update for Hearth & Home will begin after Hearth & Home is released.

Major Update 1: Hearth & Home

Valheim’s first significant update, Hearth & Home, fleshes out base-building and player housing as essential parts of the core gameplay loop. New build pieces will include dark wood roofs and window openings. New cooking station extensions such as the spice rack and, butcher table and pots & pans are on the horizon.

Vilhelm will also get a new food system that “places more importance between boosting your health and stamina. Making food choices more interesting based upon your playstyle.” The food bar will be replaced by timers for each item, and there will be three categories of food items.

Health and stamina will affect your combat poise differently, but they also allow you to attack longer. As it increases your ability to “deflect incoming hits and mitigating damage,” tanker Vikings will seek to improve their health. Blocking power will be determined by your maximum health. This stat affects your stagger bar, which, once it is full seems to make you vulnerable for a short moment.

Tower shields have more knockback, making them the best choice for tanker build that wants to defend their position against multiple enemies. The buckler allows players to evade strikes. Round shields are still the best choice if you prefer a balanced approach to play.

Boars, wolves, and deer each different drop types of meat upon being killed. VaValheim’searth & Home updates include more than 10 new recipes, plantable onions, and more than 10 other features.

It would help if you baked bread and pies in the oven before they could be eaten. You can remove active buffs by eating unique berries if you are unhappy about your food choices.

Treasure chests and iron grates, as well as coin piles, are on the horizon. All weapons have been rebalanced. The two-handed ax has a faster wind up and increased stagger damage. The draw speed of the bow has been adjusted. It cannot be drawn immediately, but it requires less stamina to keep drawing.

Valheim Mountain Update

VaValheim’sountain update bridges the gap between its significant content drops. It expands the biome that gave it its name and adds Frost Caves, a brand new instanced dungeon.

They are very similar to the Burial Chambers or Sunken Crypts.

Mountain also includes full controller support, single-player pause, and additional optimization settings.

Iron Gate Studio, a developer, also revealed that the Frost Caves are “e”sentially” “aValheim’sult of the Wolf Update. This was part of the original roadmap.

Valheim Major Update 2: Mistlands

Mistlands was initially expected to add a new biome with “n”w enemies and unique items,” “as well as a boss and new resources. Iron Gate, the developer of Valheim, confirmed on October 22 that work is ongoing to update VaValheim’second major version. However, he dididn’tpecify what the new biome would look like.

Mistlands will take some time to develop, but Valheim will get more minor updates in the interim, with the developer teasing a few new additions to the Mountains biome.

A second screenshot from the in-development build was shared later in November. This helped us better understand why the gagame’second major update included the word “m” st.””The developer shared some concept art in February 2022 to mark VaValheim’sirst anniversary. It also confirmed that “t”e phase for nailing down the core idea is over,” “and had decided on the new bibiome’snhabitants. Now, work moves to new pieces and enemies as well as “d”fining more new mechanics that we will be introducing.”

” piece of concept art from March was also shared, giving us a glimpse at the Mistlands fauna.

It is unclear where this leaves Ships & the Sea. These were meant to customize ships and enhance the maritime experience. However, we will likely learn more about them in the future.

The vaValheim’s021-2022 roadmap is still promising, even though it is significantly smaller than its original version. ItIt’smportant to remember that the features of this roadmap could be affected by development in unexpected ways.
