Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starters for Gen 9 have been announced
The mysterious video that featured two brand new games ended the 27th of February’s Pokemon Presents. This exclusive clip revealed three brand-new Gen 9 starter Pokemon. It officially launched Pokemon Scarlett and Violet’s new generation.
Today is Pokemon Day. With the announcement of a new Pokemon Presents, rumours circulated fast about a big statement. It didn’t disappoint. It was revealed that Alolan Pokemon would be coming to Pokemon GO. New events in Pokemon Cafe Remix, Masters EX and Legends Arceus were also announced. The biggest reveal was Scarlet and Violet, two new Pokemon titles.
Gen 9 Starter Pokemon in Scarlet or Violet
Like every generation before, Scarlet’s and Violets’ Gen 9 starter Pokemon will have Fire-type, Grass-type, and Water-type. Although we don’t yet have names for these new Pokemon, we have an exclusive reveal image from the Pokemon Presents stream.
Is it adorable? These are the three most difficult starters to choose from. The Fire-type Pokemon is not like any other Pokemon we can relate to in real life. It’s adorable, regardless of what it is. The gorgeous Grass-type starter looks a lot like a kitten. While the Water-type Gen 9 starter Pokemon is inspired by a duckling.
New Pokemon Scarlett and Violet games
As part of the Pokemon Presents stream, footage from the new games, Pokemon Scarlett and Violet, were also released. Recent locations were shown in what appears to be an incredible new Pokemon open-world, similar to Arceus. Psyduck and Drifloon were also demonstrated. This means that the Gen 9 Pokedex will look identical to the one from Sword and Shield, with some new Pokemon, such as Drifloon, Stonjourner, and some previously revealed Gen 9 starters.
The release date for Pokemon Scarlett and Violet
Amazingly, Pokemon Scarlett and Violet will be released in 2022. This brings three new mainline Pokemon titles within a year, including Pokemon Legends Arceus. This should not lead to games that are sub-par. Game Freak has been criticized for pushing games out too quickly.
