ELDEN RING: HOW to SUMMON SPIRITS EXPLAINED
FromSoftware’s latest Soulsborne features many new features, including an open world built from George R.R. Lore. Martin. Martin. Spirit Ashes can be used in battle to disorient and damage your enemies. This guide will show exactly how to summon Spirits. It will also explain where to obtain the Spirit Calling Bell and where to locate the Spirit Tuner to enhance your spectral companions.
WHERE DO I FIND THE SPIRIT CALLING ELL BELL?
First, acquire the Spirit Calling Bell to summon a Spirit in Elden Ring. This item will remain in your Key Items tab and does not need to be equipped to summon your combat companion.
These are the methods that you can use to locate the Spirit Calling Bell.
- After obtaining your spectral steed from Torrent, you can rest at the Church of Ellen Site of Grace.

To obtain the Torrent, activate the Church of Elleh Site of Grace. It is located north of the Stranded Graveyard where you first entered the open world. You can either find another Site of Grace or die to trigger a conversation between Melina and you. Torrent will be granted to you if you accept her offer. You can now ride on horseback whenever it is summoned.
After obtaining Torrent you must rest or die and respawn during the night at Church of Elleh Site of Grace. Renna, an NPC, will ask you if you are able to summon a spectral horse. To get the Spirit Calling Bell, and the Lone Wolf Ashes Spirit, tell Renna yes.
You can purchase the Spirit Calling Bell from the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold for 100 Runes if Renna is not available. For 500 Runes, you can also purchase the Lone Wolf Ashes Spirit from them. After resting in a Site of Grace, outside of Limgrave, you can unlock this location by speaking to Melina or defeating Margit the Fell Omen at Stormveil Castle.
HOW TO SUMMON SPIRITS EXPLAINED
Now that you’ve got the Spirit Calling bell, it’s time to learn how to summon Spirits using Elden Ring. You will need to equip your companion’s Ashes to either the Pouch or Equipment menu items. You should be careful as enemies could still attack you if the game doesn’t pause.
You can either equip Spirit Ashes using Equipment or the Pouch.
You can summon the same way as you use HP or FP flasks. To do this, open the menu and choose “Equipment”. Scroll down to the bottom to select the slot to which you want to assign a Spirit’s Ashes. To quickly switch to the Spirit, press the “Use Item” button. This button is for Xbox gamers, Square on PlayStation and R by default on PC.
You can also summon a Spirit from Elden Ring, by assigning each one a button on the Pouch. You will find the Pouch on the right-hand side. You can change its contents by pressing the “Switch” button. Next, select a Spirit and assign it to a direction using the d-pad. You can summon it by pressing Y on Xbox or Triangle on PlayStation and then the appropriate d-pad input. To access their Pouch contents, PC users should press E instead.
Every Spirit has a different cost. If you intend to use Spirit Summons often, make sure to increase your Mind attribute or the number of FP flasks at a Site of Grace. Keep in mind that Spirits cannot be used in certain areas, even if they are located far from Rebirth Monuments. If the HUD’s bottom left-hand side shows a glowing white icon that looks like a gravestone, you will know you are safe to summon a Spirit.
WHERE DO I FIND A SPIRIT TUNER?
You will need to do a side quest in order to upgrade Spirit Ashes. First, go to Stormhill Shack (just below Stormveil Castle), and talk with Roderick. To acquire the Jellyfish Spirit Ashes, you can speak to Roderick. You don’t have to be disappointed if you missed it. It can still be purchased later.
Roderick can be found at Stormhill Shack, Limgrave.
Then, wait until Roderika leaves Stormhill Shack. Next, travel to Roundtable Hold and talk with Roderika by the fire. You can also defeat Godrick, the Grafted at Stormveil Castle and force her to move. Talk with Smith Master Hewg after speaking with her. Talk with them until you are exhausted of dialogue options. Then, go to the middle of the table and change the time.

Roderick and her Spirit Ashes upgrades services can be found at the Roundtable Hold, across from Smith Master Hewg. If Roderick has not received the Jellyfish Spirit Ashes yet, please select the “Please” option to speak with Roderick.
HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR SPIRIT ASHES
To upgrade Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring, you will need to spend Runes and either Ghost Glovewort oder Glave Glovewort. Bring your Glovewort and Runes to Roderika at Roundtable Hold and talk with her about tuning. To level up normal Spirit Ashes, which are usually groups of animals or creatures, Grave Glovewort must be used. Ghost Glovewort, on the other hand, is required to level up Renowned Spirit Ashes. These are more likely to have single companions such as humans or large creatures. The Glovewort’s number will tell you how much it will improve your Spirit Ashes. The greater the number, the more powerful the upgrade.
