DOTA 2 Patch 7.31 aims to Rebalance the Meta

DOTA 2’s first update of the year, 7.31, is always exciting. This ends a six-month drought that had been separating major updates. We have received balance patches over the months and seasonal content updates, but no major game system was introduced. Update 7.31 will be available on February 23rd, with a change to Techies Demolitions. Two Aghanim’s items will also be tweaked, as they are too powerful currently and have been a staple in the meta for months.

What can you expect from DOTA 2 Patch 7.31

DOTA 2 Patch 7.31 contains major balance changes, in the same vein that the previous post-International update. The meta should be balanced with the Nerfs for Tinker and Spirit’s Break as well as the Combo: Outworld Destroyer-Meteor Hammer. New neutral items will be added to the game, which could open up opportunities for many intricate builds. Aghanim’s Scepters, and Aghanim’s Shards have been dominating the meta for months. With no major balance changes made since late 2021 Valve finally addresses these two anomalies.
