Ubisoft Reportedly Has Made Assassin’s Creed Valhalla DLC Into a Full Game

Bloomberg reports that Ubisoft will make an Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla expansion a full-fledged game to have something ready for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Infinity.

Sources tell us that the new game, codenamed Rift, transitioned from DLC to full-game at the end of 2021. It will feature Basim, the (supporting, but) major character assassin of Valhalla. The actual protagonist Eivor was merely passing through the larger Assassin’s Creed storyline. Bloomberg claims that Rift will have a smaller scale than the open-world Valhalla and focus more on stealth. The game will launch in 2022, but it could be delayed to 2023.

Ubisoft representatives told Bloomberg that they don’t comment on speculation or rumours because they are harmful to the development teams and community. They also said the company has a solid and exciting pipeline of titles, including both well-known brands with new story twists, features and IPs that will continue changing the landscape of video games.

This all happened after Ubisoft became embroiled in a scandal. There were numerous stories about the mistreatment of employees that circulated online. Also, some other issues have led to some turnover at the publisher. Although the company appears to have taken steps to remedy these issues, employees are still unhappy with the current state of things. TAFEP also investigated UUbisoft’sSingapore branch. It found that the company had taken the appropriate actions in response to harassment and discrimination reports.
