Nintendo Direct: Kirby, the forgotten land and ‘Mouthful Mode” debuts
Kirby Sucks. This is not a criticism but a literal description. The most adorable and beloved omnivore from Nintendo is well-known for picking up everything in his path. Rocks, plants, monsters. Kirby will eat anything Kirby offers and try to absorb it all. Is Kirby now consuming more than he can eat? In a trailer that debuted during Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that Kirby would be receiving a new power-up, Kirby, and the Forgotten Land. It’s about having eyes that are bigger than his stomach. Kirby has a gut but not a portal mouth that is candyfloss-colored.
The Real Mouthful
The Forgotten Land trailer and the new Kirby begins with Kirby fighting off a group of beasties in the mysterious abandoned location. Kirby also steals a complete car in his haste to clean the area. In past games, non-sentient materials were ejected in a star-shaped explosion of energy. Large objects, however, will be stuck in Kirby’s wide-open mouth. He’ll also be able to gain new powers depending on the thing.
Let’s look at the different Mouthful Mode objects and their effects.
Car
Kirby wraps the car around like a pink pillowcase. The vehicle can be operated by Kirby, and he can drive the vehicle around the map at maximum speed. This will be a great asset, considering the size and variety of Forgotten Land areas.
Vending machine
As if giving Kirby an assault rifle wasn’t enough ammunition! While in this form, Kirby can waddle and spit out cans that can be used as deadly projectiles.
Traffic cone
Kirby isn’t safer if he absorbs a traffic cone. It’s quite the opposite. He can use it to gain a lethal ground-pounding ability. It can damage environmental objects, as shown in the trailer.
Scissor-lift
Kirby can propel himself up to reach difficult-to-reach places. This ability, much like the car’s traversal focus, is similar to the vehicle. However, the emphasis is on hidden areas and secrets.
Rubber Ring
Kirby exhales a blast to propel himself forward on a boat. Perhaps he could have used it as a flotation device? This is too slow for Kirby. This mode may also have offensive capabilities, but it remains determined.
Light-bulb
It’s pretty self-explanatory. Kirby acts as his light source and illuminates darkened areas.
Arch’ mode
Although we cannot see the object that turns Kirby into this mode, it works similarly to a paraglider. As Smash Bros fans already know, the way will increase Kirby’s aerial maneuvering.
Water-balloon mode
This is not the case. Kirby absorbs water balloons. Kirby absorbs gallons of water and becomes a water balloon. To clean toxic goop, water can be jetted out at will. Super Kirby Sunshine, anyone?
Kirby and the Forgotten Land – The Future
We will see how many power-ups and modes Kirby can use this time. Kirby’s Forgotten Land experience will be unforgettable if Mouthful Mode is any indication.
Nintendo Switch will launch Kirby and Forgotten Land on March 25th.
