Microsoft announced its smaller Xbox Wireless Adapter back in August, but mysteriously delayed its summer launch to 2018. The adapter is now finally in the Microsoft Store in the US, priced at $24.99. Is 66 percent smaller than the older version, and looks like a small USB data stick.
Like the original, the new adapter supports up to eight controllers at precisely the same time, as well as four regular chat headsets or two stereo ones.
While the newest Xbox One controllers include Bluetooth support for Windows 10, this adapter allows Xbox fans use older Xbox One controllers and Microsofs Elite Xbox One controller wirelessly using almost any Windows 10 PC. Is part of a broader Xbox Wireless initiative from Microsoft which aims to package its proprietary wireless communication protocol into PCs. Microsofs 15-inch Surface Novel 2 is one of the first laptops to include Xbox Wireless support, negating the requirement for this new Xbox Wireless Adapter. We’re waiting to view more Xbox Wireless support or a new Xbox Elite controller with Bluetooth support, but until then you need this adapter for the older controller.
